There were 60 people on the Forfarshire when the engines of the ship stopped working.  Daniel Donovan, an engineer and one of the passengers on the ship, noticed a light flashing far away in the dark sea.  At a lighthouse, a young woman was helping her father in the storm, hoping no ships in the area would be in danger.  Her mother said to her, “Because your brothers aren’t here tonight, we can do nothing for a shipwreck.”

Tim Vicaryが書いたノンフィクション作品「The Coldest Place on Earth」と比較すると、本のレベルもページ数もこちらの方が上なのですが、私の体感としてはこちらの方が易しく感じました。大体の展開が予想できるのと、場所が変わらないからだと思います。このサイトのレベルとしては星2つの中でも易しい方なので、星1つからのレベルアップの際の架け橋にもいいです。ただし、実話なので全てハッピーエンドとはいきませんのでご了承を。
