An interesting visitor traveled a long way to the office of Sherlock Holmes. The head of a priory school near Mackleton asked Holmes to find a missing boy, the son of the Duke of Holdernesse. Was he kidnapped? Or did he run away from the school? Was his missing related to the missing of a German teacher? Holmes said to his old friend Watson, “Every mystery has an answer.”

HolmesとWatsonの掛け合いや、複雑な事件の真実が紐解かれていく様子など、Sherlock Holmesの世界観が再現されていてとても面白いです。ただしOxford Bookworms Stage 1にしては正直難易度高すぎます。このサイトでのレベルは星2つですが、星3つ初級レベルといってもいいくらい。レベル2の本を読む力が十分についた方におすすめの、本格的な推理小説です。推理ものなので、いくつかの見慣れない単語は知らないと話がまったく理解できない場合があります。本の最後にGlossaryがついていますので、そこに説明がある単語だけは確認しながら読んでもいいと思います。
